Executive Director

Rhonda Buford, Ph.D, BCBA-D

Dr. Buford has provided direct services and training to children, adults, teachers and parents for over 20 years. She obtained her Masters and Doctorate degree in Education from the University of Southern Mississippi, and then subsequently became a Board Certified Behavior Analyst – Doctorate Level in 2007.

Dr Buford founded Behavior Consulting Services in 2004 where she has successfully provided Early Intensive Behavior Intervention (EIBI) and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to children and adolescents. Additionally she has provided consultation to schools in the areas of Autism, behavior management and positive behavior support.

Prior to starting Behavior Consulting Services, she was a professor of Special Education at Clemson University and University of Houston, Clear Lake. She has also worked with children and adults with autism and other disabilities in school and residential settings. She has extensive consultation experience that includes systems change in school programs, for individual cases requiring intensive intervention and for situations regarding litigation and potential litigation.

Clinical Supervisors and Senior Therapists

Each of our Clinical supervisors and Senior Therapists have extensive experience working with children diagnosed with Autism in both educational and clinical settings. They provide direct program supervision, development and management for the children served by Behavior Consulting Services as well as working alongside and supervising Lead and Line Therapists to ensure program fidelity.  They provide parent training in the implementation of Applied Behavior Analysis principles and other related behavior intervention procedures along with consultation/collaboration with adjunctive service providers and schools. Each have experience in participating in, conducting and implementing Functional Behavior Assessments and the development of Behavior Intervention Plans. They provide the ongoing training and professional development of our Line Therapists to ensure consistency and efficacy in the execution of programs and interventions. 

 Aaron Check, BCBA

Aaron joined Behavior Consulting Services in August 2008 and provides Clinical Supervision in the Columbia area.  Prior to working at BCS, he graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in Child Psychology and worked in Minneapolis where he provided Line and Lead therapy to children with autism within a Clinical setting. He received his Masters degree in Counseling and his B.C.B.A coursework through Nova Southeastern University.


Brianna Smith

Brianna joined Behavior Consulting Services in September 2008 and provides Clinical Supervision in the Upstate. She gained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Clemson University. Brianna plans to pursue a Masters degree in Teaching and Learning with an Applied Behavior Analysis focus from Arizona State University in the near future. Upon completion of her Masters, Brianna will sit certification examination to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.

Donna Cooper - BCBA

Donna joined Behavior Consulting Services in December 2008 and provides Clinical Supervision in the Upstate. She achieved her Masters Degree from the University of Leeds (United Kingdom) and then gained her Post Graduate specialization in Education from the University of Sheffield (United Kingdom). Donna taught children in the public school system in England where she gained experience in teaching children with autism within an inclusive setting. Donna completed the necessary coursework to take the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (B.C.B.A.) certification examination from Florida Institute of Technology. 

Lead Therapists

Each of our Lead Therapists work under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst.  Our Lead Therapists collect and carefully analyze data on each of the children that they are assigned to. They collaborate with a BCBA to determine the mastery of the different skills on each child’s program and the subsequent direction each program should take in order for each child to acquire and build on their skills. They work alongside the children and their Line Therapists on a weekly basis to ensure consistent and effective program implementation and quality behavioral services. Each Lead Therapist is responsible for making sure each child is on a productive track as well as keeping everyone on the team understanding and performing the programs correctly.

Upstate

Kyle Tiedemann

Kyle has been working for Behavior Consulting Services since April 2009. He achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Clemson University and is currently studying for a Masters degree in Special Education with Autism Emphasis at Arizona State University. His Masters degree includes the relevant coursework required to sit the B.C.B.A certification examination.  Upon completion, Kyle will pursue Board Certification in Behavior Analysis. Kyle has experience volunteering with the Special Olympics and currently coaches 9 year old children in baseball.

Whitney Vereen

Whitney graduated from Clemson University with a BA in Sociology (minor in Psychology) and began working for BCS in April 2011. Whitney plans to gain BCBA certification after completion of a Masters Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis.


Alexandra Schwartz

Alexandra joined Behavior Consulting Services in September 2010. She achieved a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Fordham University and is currently undergoing a Masters degree in Education (Teaching and Learning with an Applied Behavior Analysis focus) at Arizona State University. Alexandra plans to pursue certification in Behavior Analysis upon completion of her Masters degree.

Kimball Zane

Kimball joined the Behavior Consulting Services team as a Lead Therapist in September 2011. She began working in the ABA field with children with autism in 2008 in both Boston and Albany, NY. Kimball currently holds a B.A in Psychology from Clemson University, and she plans to obtain a Masters Degree while pursing BCBA certification in the near future.


Midlands

 Anni McNulty

Anni became part of the Behavior Consulting Services team in January 2011, and had experience as a Line Therapist prior to joining us. She graduated in May 2011 from University of South Carolina with a degree in Experimental Psychology (minor in Education with a focus on Special Education). She plans to obtain a Masters degree in either Special Education or Applied Behavior Analysis and then gain BCBA certification.

Katrina Walker

Katrina has been providing Lead Therapy to children and adolescents in the Columbia area since January 2009. She obtained a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from the University of South Carolina, and prior to joining Behavior Consulting Services Katrina gained over seven years of experience working with children ranging from infancy to school aged. She is currently working on a Masters degree in Special Education from Walden University, and then plans to pursue B.C.B.A certification.

Sarah Groth

Sarah is a Lead Therapist in the Columbia area and has been working for Behavior Consulting Services since December 2009. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Experimental Psychology from the University of South Carolina. She will pursue a Masters degree in Special Education which includes the relevant coursework to sit the B.C.B.A examination.

Line Therapists

Together under the supervision of Lead Therapists and Clinical Supervisors, our Line Therapists provide the recommended number of 1:1 instruction hours on a weekly basis for each child.  Our Line Therapists are carefully selected and trained in order to ensure that Behavior Consulting Services has a well-trained and effective team of Therapists who provide effective program implementation to meet the specific needs of the children and adolescents we serve.

Before working independently with a child, each of our Line Therapists under-go didactic training on Autism and Applied Behavior Analysis and under go practical training in implementing Discrete Trial Teaching using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and positive reinforcement. Each Line Therapist works alongside a Lead Therapist on a weekly basis in order to achieve consistency with program delivery and maximize program effectiveness. Throughout their time at Behavior Consulting Services, our Therapists under-go professional development workshops to ensure that each Therapist is aware of the most current scientifically effective techniques and the most up to date Behavioral Analytical procedures.

Administration

Kate Callahan
Kate comes from Northern New York. Her past experiences include being the office manager at a large firm as well as working in an elementary school. Kate has been the key player when it comes to handling all medical and insurance billing since joining Behavior Consulting Services in June 2008. Her other duties include accounts payable, accounts receivable and managing payroll.

Jackie Eakins
Jackie has been working as Behavior Consulting Services’ Administrative Assistant since December 2009. She maintains Dr Buford’s schedule/calendar, human resources and the day to day operations of the office. Jackie has many years of administrative experience including 12 years in the Registrars Office at Georgia Southern University.
